The Tim Hus Trio are bringing their particular brand of Canadiana

cowboy music to the Empress Theatre on Friday, March 27, 2020 at 7:30 p.m.

With a voice he describes as “sweeter than a Husqvarna chainsawand a wit that is sharper than rusty barbed wire”, Tim Hus is a penultimate singer and storyteller, whose image-laden songs are focused on the pioneering spirit of Canadians.

Hus and his Travelin' Band, which includes bull fiddler Riley Tubbs, Billy MacInnis on lead guitar and fiddle, and Pat Phillips on drums, have toured from coast to coast for almost two decades. A travelin’ band indeed, Hus has logged over a million road kilometres since 2003 the equivalent of more than 60 trips back and forth across Canada.

Hus spent two years on the road as the opening act for Canadian legend Stompin' Tom Connors, and has also shared the stage with other talents including Ian Tyson, Tim Harwill and Gary Fjellgaard. He also worked with Corb Lund on the song "Hurtin' Albertan". In fact, Hus was heralded by both Corb Lund and Stompin’ Tom Connors as one of their favorite homegrown songwriters. Hus performs an annual “Stompin’ Tom Birthday Show” featuring some of the classic tunes written and recorded by his old friend and mentor.

In his earlier days, Hus worked as a carpenter’s helper, framer, warehouse hand, forklift driver, van driver, tree planter, brewery worker, beer truck driver, fruit picker, fisherman, pinecone picker, sawhand, cabinet maker, well driller, painter, courier, assembly line worker, salmon farmer, furniture mover, labourer, and maintenance man.

His varied career has inspired many of his songs, tips of his hat to the people who perform ordinary jobs, capturing the spirit that motivates and inspires them.

Hus has recorded six albums of country and roots music and is currently working on his seventh. His distinctive songwriting and spirited performances by the members of his dynamic band stand as a cornerstone of authentic Canadiana.

Tickets to the Tim Hus Trio at the Empress Theatre are only $25 at MacleodEmpress.com.
