“I had a tendency to be singing songs to people when they were kind of in their worst times. Really grieving and really feeling it, and I’ve played in front of a lot of audiences where people were happy. I’ve played in front of audiences where people were a bit complacent. I was more making background noise for them. But, there’s something about playing for people when they’re really feeling it right there in front of you. When they’re missing somebody and when they’re going through a hard time. I got my start being able to be kind of a voice for them to get through that time. They could grieve along with me.”
