Great week to play the blues

There’s a whole lot of blues and jazz this week.


 Keith Woodrow hosts  the blues jam at the Slice on Tuesday. And there will be jazz at the Watertower on Wednesdays. James Oldenburg and Paul Holden will be performing from 6-8 p.m. this Wednesday.

Also on Wednesday, Shaye Zadravec and guitarist Tim Leacock with special guests Bailey Kate and Joel Stretch perform at the Geomatic Attic’s downtown venue beginning at 8 p.m.

 Zadravec just released her new album “Now and Then.”

Tickets are $45 including appetizers, wine and beverages. 


Scott Davidson and friends return to the Slice on Wednesday with  the Scott Davidson band, John Matthews and North Cold performing beginning at 8 p.m..


Bluesman Harpdog Brown returns to the Owl Acoustic lounge this week. The Quadaphonic Duo featuring Harpdog Brown and Charlie Jacobson will be performing at the Owl Acoustic Lounge, Nov. 12. Jacobson  will be playing drums with his feet and adding killer guitar playing to Harpdog Brown’s big vocals and harp. Admission is $15. The show begins at 8 p.m.


Also on Friday, Greg Gomola’s blues rock band Zojo Black are releasing their third CD at the Slice.

Honker’s Pub is going ’50s, Saturday, Nov. 13 with a  sock hop featuring local band Coda Blues and Volbeat Tribute Rebel Angels playing  all of your ’50s favourites. There will be an ice cream station,  swing dance lessons,  and a costume contest with prizes for best female, best male and best pair.

Tickets are $10 in advance, $15 at the door., The show begins at 6 p.m.


 Skinny Dyck and the Chicken Catchers will be playing country music at the Owl Acoustic lounge, Nov. 13. There is a $10 cover.

 Down the street, The Slice has a big rap night as they host Mitchell  Lawler’s “Day One” tour featuring local support from Kohr36, Post Meridian, lRev, Ollie X and the  New Testaments. Tickets are $20.


Country band Trevor Christensen  and El Mule are playing Casino Lethbridge on Nov. 12 and 13.


 For comedy, Calgary “Master” Dale Ward performs at Good Times, Nov. 12 and 13 at 8 p.m. each night. Tickets are $15 in advance or $20 at the door.

 The Canadian Brewhouse has their weekly comedy open mic on Thursday.

 The most important event on Thursday is Remembrance Day. Thanks to Covid, Remembrance day ceremonies have had to be adjusted for public health recommendations.

In lieu of a public Remembrance day event this year, the Royal Canadian Legion General Stewart Branch is encouraging folks to watch their livestream via their Facebook page starting at 10:40 a.m. on Nov. 11.
